This is a list of some of the projects’ I’ve participated.
DOL’s Customer Service Modernization Program
I’ve participated in the CSMP effort at Department of Labor. This program came as response to a White House Executive Order from April 27th, 2011: Executive Order–Streamlining Service Delivery and Improving Customer Service. Since the start of this effort, I’ve supported the Deputy Secretary’s Office, the Office of Public Affairs, and the assigned Program Manager. Specifically, I’ve helped with the design of DOL’s solution, have led the effort about the Signature Initiatives, and thanks to this, provided project management to the first two Challenge.gov application challenges launched by the DOL.
I was the team lead for this project. I worked with the Solutions Architect and the developers to make use of OData to expose data from the U.S. Department of Labor. After the successful implementation, I have been part of the team that constantly updates the API and provides more datasets that can be consumed by the public. As I normally due, allow me to give credit where credit is rightly due. The main idea for this implementation, which included SDKs and code samples, was Mike Pulsifer’s. The architect for the solution was Eric Day, and the main developers have been Antonio Nieves, Andres Angel, Aarron Jones and Eshetu Ejigu, among others.
Oracle UCM Implementation
Managed the final phase of implementation of Oracle UCM as a Web Content Management System for a major .Gov website. I won’t take much of the credit as I had the fortune of working with a SME in this tool. My role was to provide technical guidance and support for the implementation. The data migration aspect was complex and took most of the time that we used in this effort.
Live Video Streaming
Participated in the design of a video streaming solution for a government agency’s intranet and the public. For the internal solution we decided to use a ViewCast Niagara encoder streaming through a Windows Media Services server. The publishing points are streamed at 300Kbps, 500Kbps and 1.5Mbps and served to different segments of the intranet, depending on network capacity.
For the external stream we took the easy approach, we simply used the same encoder witha flash stream and sent it to a content delivery network (in this case, Akamai) and made it available through the main site to the general public.
Mashups – Information as XML
Generated a list of events in XML format, to be used as source information for mashups
Worked on the display of event locations on a map, using Google Maps API
Implemented a public-facing blog for a U.S. Federal Government Department. Tool used: WordPress running on Ubuntu.
Implemented an Intranet blog for a U.S. Federal Government Department. Tool used: WordPress running on Ubuntu.
Participated in the testing and implementation of Mediawiki as an Intranet Wiki for a U.S. Government Department
Designed and implemented the first mobile version of a Federal Department’s website. The CSS and basic template is still in use today.
Customer Service Request Tracking Tool
Lead the research and implementation of a tool to track customer requests and incidents for a Federal Agency.
As a team lead and program manager for a government contractor, I work with my team members in career path development, 360 performance reviews, task assignment, resource allocations, set priorities, etc.
I also support the sales and BD activities for the organization. This includes technical presentations and also proposal writing.
